DTE EV Charger Rebate Eligibility Criteria
The DTE offers Home EV charger rebate to US people who meet the following eligibility requirements:
- You must be enrolled in an Eligible electric rate to save your energy cost
- You should be a good-standing DTE residential electric customer and have payments active.
- Your Home EV charger must be Level 2 charger Energy Star Certified or come from the same manufacturer as your EV and installed after 31 Dec 2021.
- You must be on a year-round time-of-use and should remain enrolled in the respected TOU rate for at least a year, for instance, D1.2 TOU rate or the D1.9 EV-only TOU rate.
- You have bought or leased an Electronic vehicle or plug-in hybrid EV registered with the Michigan Secretary of State at the address corresponding to the DTE electric service Account.
- You should get the EV charger installed by a licensed electrician.
DTE EV Charger Rebate Amount
The US DTE offers a $500 rebate under the Home EV Charger rebate program to qualified residential EV owners. The EV owners can claim the rebate amount for the Level 2 Home EV charger.
With the Home EV charger rebate and EV rebate, the US people who buy or lease an eligible EV and wish to install the Home EV charger can receive a rebate amount of up to $2,000 ($500 via EV charger and $15,000 via EV rebate).
The Department of Energy also offers Commercial EV charging station rebates of up to $2,000 on a purchase of Level 2 EV charging stations and $55,000 for installing DCFC (Direct Current Fast Charging) stations.

- You should buy or lease an EV or Plug-in hybrid-eligible EV from the recognized EV showrooms. You should submit the rebate application for the Home EV charger within six months of the charger purchase.
- You should enroll in eligible electric rates at https://www.dteenergy.com/us/en/residential/service-request/pev/electric-pricing.html or call ay (734) 213 9877 and choose an appropriate rate plan.
- Next, purchase and Level 2 Home EV charger and apply at https://dteresev.powerclerk.com/MvcAccount/Login by following the steps:
- As a DTE registered customer, you should log into your DTE account through a Username and password.
- Next, go to the settings and click Add program.
- Next, add the DTE Electric – Home EV Charger Rebate to your PowerClerk Account.
- Now, click the New Home EV charger Rebate Application on the homepage and complete the application.
When will you receive the DTE EV Charger Rebate?
After you apply for the rebate, the DTE will review your rebate application. It may take 15 to 20 working days to process your rebate application unless there is some error or missing information in your application.
If your application gets approval from DTE, the authority will send you a confirmation email and rebate information. The DTE will process the rebate check under the name of the applicant after the approval. So, applicants can expect the rebate amount after a month of application if their rebate application gets approved.
