- Your family situation changes in the following financial year, such as a change in marital status, a new child in the family, the death of the recipient, a child across 19 years of age, or others. You should report the notable family situation changes that could affect your payment to the CRA to receive the accurate payment, otherwise, it will affect your payment.
- If you have some debt that you owe to the CRA, the agency may recover the debt through the rebate payment.
- The current 20% rural supplement increment will increase your payment for the people whose eligibility was determined based on the 2021 Census data.
How will you receive the Carbon Rebate 2025?
The Carbon rebate is given to eligible residents when they claim the rebate in their federal tax return. The Canadians who are eligible for the Carbon rebate will receive the upcoming Jan 2025 payment based on their tax return filed in 2024.
The Canadians who wish to receive the Carbon rebate in the following quarter payment dates should file the tax return in the 2025 tax season for the 2024 tax year. Hence, Canadians do not need to apply separately for the CCR when they file their tax returns.
Now, Canadians who recently came to Canada and are Canadian residents can claim the rebate by registering their Child for Child benefit ( if you have a child) or you can fill out the RC151 form for GST/HST credit to apply for the CCR benefits.
The CCR benefit is a boon for many Canadians as it reduces the financial burden they paid in the fuel charges and helps them get their money back.
