What to report to the CRA to continue receiving the CCR?
The Canadians eligible for the Canada Revenue Agency are expecting to report changes if that can affect the rebate payment to avoid overpayment and receive accurate and timely payment:
- If you are moving from the province or Canada to some other country;
- If the number of children in your care has been changed or the dependent child is over 19 years of age and no longer dependent on you;
- If the child for whom you are claiming the CCR is no longer living with you you are not responsible for him/her.
- If your relationship status or marital status has changed in the year.
- If the individual who has been receiving the CCR has died, then the family must inform the CRA,
- If the deceased was married or had a common-law partner then the spouse may be eligible to receive the rebate, hence they need to inform the CRA to update the changes,
- If you owe the CRA some balance or debt, the agency may use the rebate amount to offset the debate.
Canadians can report these changes through their MyAccount and inform the agency timely so that the agency can take the respective action and process the accurate payment as per your family situation and other conditions.
